The Freedom Irish will head out on the road to face off against the Oconto Falls Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Freedom not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since October 24, 2024 (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on Marinette with a sharp 3-0 victory.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Freedom was: they took every set by at least 16 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-6, 25-6.
Freedom's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Keira Griesbach, who had six digs and three aces, and McKenna Meulemans, who had three aces. That's the most aces Griesbach has posted over her last seven contests.
They weren't the only good servers: Freedom was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Oconto Falls waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with 21 straight wins... but they left with 22. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Phantoms.
Oconto Falls didn't let West De Pere take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-22, 27-25.
Freedom's record is now 15-9. As for Oconto Falls, their record now sits at 26-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Freedom has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Oconto Falls struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Freedom beat Oconto Falls 2-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Irish repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
