Volleyball Recap: Willmar Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Willmar had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the Marshall Tigers, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cardinals have suffered since September 19, 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-15, 25-17.

Willmar's loss came despite strong showings from Jordan Blahosky and Nora Mitteness. Blahosky had 12 digs, while Mitteness had six kills, three aces, and one block. Mitteness is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in each of the last four games she's played dating back to last season.

Willmar didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Waconia on the 23rd. As for Marshall, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Chanhassen on the 22nd.
