Baseball Recap: Macomb Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

It's playoff time, and Macomb had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Illini West Chargers by a score of 5-2 on Wednesday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 6-4 win two weeks ago.

Langdon Lambert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nick Elbe, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Macomb pushed their record up to 19-14 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Illini West, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-11.

As of now, neither Macomb nor the Chargers have any future games scheduled.
