Softball Recap: Naperville Central Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lake Park, Naperville Central was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Naperville North Huskies a 4-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Redhawks in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won four in a row.

The result came thanks to Avery Miller's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Naperville Central's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cali Lenz, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Gianna Ecklund also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Naperville Central's win bumped their record up to 22-9. As for Naperville North, they dropped their record down to 6-22 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Naperville Central will square off against DeKalb at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Naperville North, they will face off against Glenbard North at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
