Baseball Recap: Colerain Comes Up Short

Colerain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ross Rams. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rams from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Craig Smith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Hesse, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Colerain's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Ross, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Colerain will take on Edgewood at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight. Ross does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
