Softball Game Preview: St. Joseph's Academy Redstickers vs. St. John Eagles

The St. Joseph's Academy Redstickers will square off against the St. John Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph's Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, St. Joseph's Academy turned things around against E.D. White on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Cardinals 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Redstickers have posted since April 16, 2024.

Coco Ourso made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up five earned runs off eight hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cecilia CeCe Bookman, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Adele Aucoin, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

St. Joseph's Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for St. John's offense. They fell 3-0 to E.D. White on Saturday.

St. Joseph's Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for St. John, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

St. Joseph's Academy beat St. John 6-1 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Does St. Joseph's Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. John turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
