Foothill and Livermore are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Falcons will venture away from home to square off against the Cowboys at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last five games Foothill has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Foothill heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Wednesday. They fell just short of Liberty by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Falcons have suffered since March 21st.

Myra Galzie was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Alexa Sponsel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Livermore's offense. They came up short against Casa Grande on Wednesday, falling 9-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Cowboys in their meetings with the Gauchos: they've now lost four in a row.

Reese Boswell was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

Livermore's loss dropped their record down to 19-10. As for Foothill, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-9-1.

Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Foothill hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .378. However, it's not like Livermore struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Foothill's way against Livermore when the teams last played back in April, as Foothill made off with a 16-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
