Baseball Recap: Buena Vista Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Buena Vista came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Centauri Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Demons have posted since April 7th.

Elio Ynfante was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has become a key player for Buena Vista: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-11 otherwise. Ynfante was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Buena Vista got a big performance out of Reed Lundy, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. Lundy is becoming a predictor of the Demons' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Trey Cardwell, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Buena Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Buena Vista now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Centauri, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

As of now, neither Buena Vista nor Centauri have any future games scheduled.
