Baseball Recap: Walter Johnson Comes Up Short

Walter Johnson blew Wheaton out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Wheaton got their revenge. The Wildcats fell just short of the Knights by a score of 12-10. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ethan Pletter was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last three matchups. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Spencer Gilcrest made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Jack Gilder was another key player, going 1-for-2 with four RBI and two runs.

Walter Johnson's defeat dropped their record down to 20-10. As for Wheaton, their record is now 10-11.

Coming up, Walter Johnson is taking a road trip to face off against Sherwood at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. Wheaton has already played their next game (against Quince Orchard), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
