Baseball Game Preview: Maricopa Rams vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions

For the second straight game, Maricopa will face off against Mountain View. The Rams will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Mountain Lions at 4:00 p.m.

Maricopa was handed a 14-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Mountain View 3-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Rams as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Connor Jackson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Maricopa's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Travis Varela, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. The Rams are 4-2 when Varela posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-8 otherwise. Another was Brandon Brewer, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Maricopa's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-10. As for Mountain View, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
