Football Recap: Cherokee Trail Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Cherokee Trail faced Cherry Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cougars took a blow against the Bruins, falling 49-12. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Cherokee Trail's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Evan Smith, who picked up 123 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and Bryson Peterson, who threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns.

Brady Vodicka produced another solid effort throwing for 270 yards and five TDs while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 45 yards for Cherry Creek. Vodicka has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Cherry Creek's leading receiver Maxwell Lovett was Vodicka's top target yet again, picking up 144 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Cherokee Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Cherry Creek, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Cherokee Trail has already played their next game, a 27-14 loss against Eaglecrest on the 10th. As for Cherry Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 56-0 victory against Arapahoe on the 9th.
