Football Recap: San Pedro Piles Up the Points Against Legacy

San Pedro never let their opponents score on Monday. They claimed a resounding 34-0 victory over the Legacy Tigers. Considering the Pirates have won four contests by more than 21 points this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

San Pedro's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jenna Ortega, who threw for 123 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of her passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground. That's the most passing yards Ortega has posted since back in October of 2024.

Another reason for the win was San Pedro's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. Makayla King was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up five herself. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 sacks per game. Rylie Ardiaz got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory was the third in a row for San Pedro, bringing their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.3 points on average over those games. As for Legacy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coincidentally, San Pedro and Legacy will both be playing Peninsula the next time they take the field. The Tigers will host the Panthers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday, while the Pirates will play them later in the day, at 4:30 p.m.
