Baseball Game Preview: DeKalb Barbs vs. Metea Valley Mustangs

For the second straight game, DeKalb will face off against Metea Valley. The Barbs will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. DeKalb's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Metea Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, DeKalb didn't have quite enough to beat Metea Valley and fell 2-1. The Barbs have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

For Metea Valley's part, Anthony Tardiff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits.

At the plate, Metea Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Gluting, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. Another was Connor Lavery, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Metea Valley's victory ended an eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-18. As for DeKalb, their loss dropped their record down to 19-10-1.
