Basketball Recap: Johnston Takes a Loss

Johnston lost against Lake Linden-Hubbell back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Johnston Speedboys were beaten by the Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes 72-25. While losing is never fun, the Speedboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 460th, while the Lakes are ranked 166th).

Johnston's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Lake Linden-Hubbell, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Johnston will challenge Mercer at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Considering Johnston has lost nine straight at home (dating back to last season) and Mercer three straight on the road , this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum. Lake Linden-Hubbell has already played their next game (against Watersmeet), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
