Basketball Game Preview: Bowen Boilermakers vs. Hyde Park Thunderbirds

The Bowen Boilermakers will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Hyde Park Thunderbirds at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Bowen is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing ACERO Garcia: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Boilermakers blew the Patriots out of the water with a 48-11 final score. The Boilermakers haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Tatianna Gibson was a one-woman wrecking crew as she went 11-for-19 on her way to 26 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of D'Mya Adams, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hyde Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past South Shore International, posting a 43-16 win. That looming 43-16 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Thunderbirds yet this season.

Hyde Park found their leader in freshman Stephanie Harrison, who shot 47% from the field en route to 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harrison has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Darianna Mabon, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks.

Hyde Park now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Bowen, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
