Softball Recap: Vicksburg Falls Short of Grenada in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Vicksburg can now relate to. They fell 6-3 to the Grenada Chargers on Friday. The Gators were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Chargers earlier this season, when they won 8-6.

Zion Harvey and Avery VanNorman did some serious damage despite the final result: Harvey got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI, while VanNorman went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Harvey is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shandrea Lockridge, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Vicksburg dropped their record down to 8-13 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Grenada, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

While Vicksburg had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
