Softball Game Preview: Valencia Tigers vs. Anaheim Colonists

The Valencia Tigers will square off against the Anaheim Colonists at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Valencia will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Valencia is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 21-7 margin over Calvary Chapel last Wednesday.

Valencia got a massive performance out of Sophia Avina, who went 4-for-6 with five runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Avina a new career-high. Rihanna Smith was another key player, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

Meanwhile, Anaheim unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 10-0 to Santiago. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Colonists, who until this match were averaging 3.94 runs allowed.

Anaheim saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Falt, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Valencia's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Anaheim, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 16-2.

Valencia took their win against Anaheim when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Colonists have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
