Basketball Recap: Fairwinds Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Gabby Johnson and Natalie Hernandez

Fairwinds Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 35-29 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chestertown Christian Academy Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 31-10 two weeks ago.

Despite the loss, Fairwinds Christian had strong showings from Natalie Hernandez, who posted eight points in addition to eight boards and three steals, and Gabby Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 44.8% of Fairwinds Christian's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Fairwinds Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Chestertown Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairwinds Christian will venture away from home to take on Concord Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairwinds Christian is facing Concord Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Concord Christian Academy is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Chestertown Christian Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Greenwood Mennonite at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Greenwood Mennonite's defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so Chestertown Christian Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
