Softball Recap: Western Find Success

It was a proper cat-fight when Western took on Somerset Academy on Tuesday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 5-2. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Cheyanne Chaffin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Analie Diaz, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season.

Western's record is now 4-0. As for Somerset Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Western will face off against Westminster Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Somerset Academy, they will square off against Pembroke Pines Charter at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
