Football Recap: Douglas Byrd Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Douglas Byrd extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They lost 36-14 to the Purnell Swett Rams. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 28-12 to the Rams when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Purnell Swett's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Purnell Swett's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sean Locklear, who picked up 112 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Those 112 receiving yards gave Locklear a new career-high. Another signal caller making a difference was Aidyn Locklear, who threw for 212 yards and three TDs.

Coming up, Douglas Byrd will take on Gray's Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Purnell Swett, they will face off against Red Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
