Basketball Game Preview: Wake Prep Academy Guardians vs. Oxford Prep Griffins

The Wake Prep Academy Guardians will challenge the Oxford Prep Griffins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wake Prep Academy will be looking to extend their current 14-game winning streak.

Last Saturday, Wake Prep Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Falls Lake, taking the game 51-41.

Wake Prep Academy found their leader in freshman Beanie Ballman, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten steals. Ballman is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Karly Beckstrand, who posted six points along with eight rebounds and five steals.

Wake Prep Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Oxford Prep was just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 42-41 to Vance Charter.

Wake Prep Academy's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points over those games. As for Oxford Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Everything came up roses for Wake Prep Academy against Oxford Prep when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 64-35 victory. Will Wake Prep Academy repeat their success, or does Oxford Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
