Baseball Game Preview: Nooksack Valley Pioneers vs. Mt. Baker Mountaineers

The Nooksack Valley Pioneers will venture away from home to square off against the Mt. Baker Mountaineers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Nooksack Valley comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Nooksack Valley fell victim to Burlington-Edison and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 1-0.

Crew Bauman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Meanwhile, Mt. Baker also failed to score in their most recent game. They lost 18-0 to Anacortes on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Mountaineers in their meetings with the Seahawks: they've now lost nine in a row.

Mt. Baker's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Nooksack Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Nooksack Valley took their victory against Mt. Baker in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nooksack Valley since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
