Basketball Game Preview: Great Bend Panthers vs. Hutchinson Salthawks

The Great Bend Panthers will head out to challenge the Hutchinson Salthawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Great Bend is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Great Bend is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Garden City on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Great Bend took a blow against Garden City, falling 57-26. The Panthers were down 50-23 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, Hutchinson didn't have too much trouble with Valley Center on Tuesday as they won 38-22. The 38-point effort marked the Salthawks' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Hutchinson's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Great Bend, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Great Bend beat Hutchinson 44-36 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Great Bend since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
