Basketball Game Preview: Tintic Miners vs. Tabiona Tigers

Tintic hasn't had much luck against Tabiona recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. Tintic will be strutting in after a win while Tabiona will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Saturday, Tintic escaped with a win against Altamont by the margin of a single free throw, 42-41.

Tintic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mariana Pena led the charge by dropping a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. Those 13 points gave Pena a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Conder, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Tabiona came up short against Rich last Saturday and fell 37-29. The match marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Tintic will have to keep a close watch on Maycee Rhoades and Taliya Allred, a pair of players who had a big impact on Tabiona's prior game. Rhoades posted 11 points, while Allred put up no points and six steals.

Tintic's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Tabiona, their loss dropped their record down to 18-5.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Tintic has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 27.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Tabiona struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Tintic lost to Tabiona on the road by a decisive 51-32 margin in their previous meeting on February 7th. Can Tintic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
