Baseball Recap: Irvington Vikings vs. James Logan Colts
Irvington extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 7-13 in the process. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the James Logan Colts. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Colts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 on Wednesday.
As for James Logan, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games.
For James Logan's part, Abraham Martinez was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Martinez a new career-high. Calvin Aguilar also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Looking ahead, Irvington will venture away from home to face off against Washington at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for James Logan, they will host Los Gatos at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Colts are on a four-game streak of home wins, the Wildcats a nine-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
