Baseball Recap: Seven Straight Road Wins for Hobart

While Hobart's win against Morgan Township wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Brickies had just enough and edged out the Cherokees 17-16. The victory continues a trend for the Brickies in their matchups with the Cherokees: they've now won eight in a row.

Zach Terek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Donio Pimentel and Connor Stafford did most of the damage at the plate: Pimentel went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Stafford scored three runs while going 4-for-4. What's more, Stafford posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Connor Kenjic also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Hobart was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Hobart pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Morgan Township, they now have a losing record of 1-2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hobart will host Hanover Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Morgan Township, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Portage at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cherokees' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season.
