Softball Recap: Dr. Phillips Drops Season-High Score on Evans

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dr. Phillips). They were the clear victors by a 27-12 margin over the Evans Trojans on Friday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Dr. Phillips got a massive performance out of Briana Lohr, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave Lohr a new career-high. Samantha Rome was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 4-for-4.

Lohr wasn't the only one making solid contact: Dr. Phillips kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The Panthers are 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Dr. Phillips' victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Evans, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Dr. Phillips and Evans could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Panthers (ranked 289th) will meet Horizon (ranked 38th) at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Evans will challenge Apopka at 6:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (501 vs. 97).
