The Robstown Cottonpickers will head out to take on the Mathis Pirates at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Robstown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Robstown gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past George West 17-1. The matchup marked the Cottonpickers' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Jianna Olguin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.
In other batting news, Karina Trevino was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Yadira Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, Mathis earned a 6-3 win over Banquete on Friday.
Like Robstown, Mathis also got a great game from a two-way player: Alyssa Herrera. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. With that strong performance, Herrera is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Angelina Hernandez, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Charleen Hernandez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Mathis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
The victory got Mathis back to even at 5-5-1. As for Robstown, their record is now 10-3.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Robstown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .483. However, it's not like Mathis struggles in that department as they've averaged .537. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Robstown's way against Mathis in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Robstown made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Robstown since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
