Softball Game Preview: Springfield Millers vs. Churchill Lancers

For the second straight game, Springfield will face off against Churchill. The Millers will venture away from home to challenge the Lancers at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Springfield is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Springfield came up short against Churchill on Tuesday, falling 18-1.

For Churchill's part, Sienna Brown made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Brown was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 5-for-6. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jolene Bousquet, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lexie Hoberg, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Churchill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Churchill, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-12.
