Preview: Cardinal Newman Cardinals vs. South Florence Bruins

The Cardinal Newman Cardinals on the road again on Monday and play against the South Florence Bruins at 1:30 p.m. on January 15th. South Florence took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Cardinal Newman, who comes in off a win.

Last Wednesday, Cardinal Newman didn't have too much trouble with Heathwood Hall Episcopal on the road as they won 42-28.

Josiah Peeples continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Elton Smith jr., who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Meanwhile, South Florence struggled with assists on Wednesday (Wilson had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. South Florence fell 64-53 to Wilson. South Florence has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

South Florence's loss came about despite a quality game from Rodney Lesane, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lesane has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarie Brown, who scored 12 points along with five assists.

Cardinal Newman's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-12. As for South Florence, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Cardinal Newman hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 52.3 points per game. However, it's not like South Florence struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 60.1 points per game.
