Baseball Game Preview: Cordova Wolves vs. First Assembly Christian Crusaders

Cordova is 0-7 against First Assembly Christian since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Wolves will head out on the road to challenge the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Cordova is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Memphis Central on Wednesday. They lost 11-2 to the Warriors. The match marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, First Assembly Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Evangelical Christian, falling 10-2.

First Assembly Christian saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Henry Jones, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs. Jones is becoming a predictor of the Crusaders' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1-1 (and 6-16 when he doesn't). Another was Christian Forrest, who went 3-for-4 with one double.

First Assembly Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-17-1. As for Cordova, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3-1.

Cordova suffered a grim 21-8 defeat to First Assembly Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2018. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
