Baseball Recap: Stagg Triumphs

Stagg's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Calaveras Red Hawks by a score of 9-4. The Delta Kings haven't had any issues with the Red Hawks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Aelias Guerrero and Rocco Rodriguez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Guerrero pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rodriguez pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. At the plate, Guerrero got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That run marked the first that Rodriguez has scored this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shanniel Brookins, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2025. Mathew Phang was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Stagg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Stagg back to even at 2-2. As for Calaveras, they dropped their record down to 0-3-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Stagg will look to defend their home field on Monday against Lathrop at 6:30 p.m. As for Calaveras, they will venture away from home to challenge McNair at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
