Football Recap: Rancho Mirage Keeps Shadow Hills' Under Pressure + How To Watch

While it was Rancho Mirage who put the first points on the board on Friday, it was Shadow Hills who put up more. The Rattlers fell 18-14 to the Knights. The Rattlers were up 14-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Although Rancho Mirage took the loss, they still got scores from Pedro Padilla and Aniken Castrejon.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 1.4 yards per carry. While one picked up at least six total tackles, Padilla stood above the rest. He made six total tackles (2.0 for loss) and snagged two interceptions which he returned one-yard for a touchdown. Rancho Mirage's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.9.

Rancho Mirage's defense didn't let Jesse Rodriguez, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Josiah Casillas, Lytrell Cavers, and Evan Machuca, who each picked up one sack apiece. Padilla got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Shadow Hills' receiving core played a big role in the win, headlined by Brandon Peffers and Shaheem Sama. Peffers picked up 93 receiving yards and one TD while Sama picked up 72 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Rancho Mirage's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Shadow Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
