Basketball Game Preview: Prospect Panthers vs. Independence 76ers

The Prospect Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Independence 76ers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Prospect comes in on four and Independence on three.

Independence better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Prospect really get things going. Everything went Prospect's way against Oak Grove on Friday as Prospect made off with a 60-40 win. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Independence was fully in charge on Thursday, breezing past Ann Sobrato 63-31. The 76ers pushed the score to 51-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.

Prospect is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Independence, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Prospect couldn't quite finish off Independence in their previous matchup back in May of 2021 and fell 78-75. Can Prospect avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
