The Woodlands and Kingwood take 5A titles; Brenham's Will Antkowiak wins boys 4A title.

The Houston area flexed its muscle at the state cross country meet at Old Settler's Park in Round Rock over the weekend as The Woodlands boys and the Kingwood girls claimed the team titles in the Class 5A state meet. For The Woodlands, it was their fifth consecutive state team championship. They were able to claim the state title despite not winning at their district meet and regional meet. The Kingwood boys claimed both of those titles.

The Kingwood girls, also well renowned in the area and state for their cross country dominance, captured their second consecutive team title. The Cy-Fair girls finished second while College Park, The Woodlands and Clear Lake came in fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. On the boys side, Strake Jesuit and Kingwood finished fourth and fifth.

In the Class 4A meet, Brenham senior Will Antkowiak won the individual championship, posting a 5,000-meter time of 15:07.56.
