Baseball Recap: Whitehall Takes a Loss

Western Michigan Christian hit Whitehall with a seven-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings fell 10-5 to the Warriors. The Vikings have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Nate Betz was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base.

Betz wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brock Morningstar, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double. Eli Winters also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Whitehall's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Western Michigan Christian, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whitehall will head out to take on Traverse City West at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Western Michigan Christian, they will take on Covenant Christian at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
