Recap: Donegal Indians vs. Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers
The Donegal Indians can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They skirted past Lampeter-Strasburg 63-61. The victory was just what Donegal needed coming off of a 66-37 loss in their prior contest.
Despite the loss, Lampeter-Strasburg still got an impressive performance from Chase Smucker, who scored 28 points along with six rebounds. Smucker has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Yasin Abdi, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Lampeter-Strasburg struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The victory got Donegal back to even at 6-6. As for Lampeter-Strasburg, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Donegal will take on Octorara Area at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Octorara Area knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Donegal likes a good challenge. As for Lampeter-Strasburg, they will head out on the road to challenge Lancaster Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lancaster Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 431st, while Lampeter-Strasburg is ranked 182nd).
