Football Recap: Gering Bulldogs vs. Hastings Tigers

Gering won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They had to suffer through a 41-14 loss at the hands of the Hastings Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 21-14 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.

Despite the loss, Gering still got an impressive performance from Rece Knight, who threw for 118 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 65 yards.

Kade Satterly had an outrageously good game for Hastings as he rushed for 71 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. That's the most rushing yards Satterly has posted since back in September of 2023. Tucker Synek was another key player, throwing for 158 yards and a touchdown while completing 80% of his passes.

Gering's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Hastings, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gering will take on Gretna East at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
