Basketball Recap: Mountain Island Charter Takes a Loss

Mountain Island Charter played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Christ the King Crusaders, falling 63-32. The Raptors have struggled against the Crusaders recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Mountain Island Charter had strong showings from Tarriah Washington, who posted eight points and five steals, and Kayla Fudge, who scored ten points and seven boards. That's the most steals Washington has posted since back in February of 2024.

Christ the King's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Claire Broda, who put up 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Broda has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rosie Gorman, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine steals.

Mountain Island Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Christ the King, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

Mountain Island Charter will challenge Pine Lake Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Island Charter is facing Pine Lake Prep at the right time seeing as Pine Lake Prep is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Christ the King, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 52-20 victory against Corvian Community on the 30th.
