Baseball Recap: St. Francis de Sales Takes a Loss

St. Francis de Sales and Wapakoneta squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but St. Francis de Sales had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Redskins by a score of 6-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 7-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2022.

St. Francis de Sales got a good showing from Blake Reeder, who pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Reeder has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gabe Lisowski was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Drew Tucker was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

The loss snapped St. Francis de Sales' winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 21-11 record. As for Wapakoneta, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 21-4.

St. Francis de Sales does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wapakoneta, they will challenge University School at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Redskins 2.6, the Preppers 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
