The Beaver Local Beavers will square off against the David Anderson Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Friday, Beaver Local didn't have quite enough to beat Crestview and fell 6-5.
AJ Bowser was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Aiden Dray, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, David Anderson came tearing into Monday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 14-1 victory. Considering the Blue Devils have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Brady Carpenter was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because David Anderson is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Carpenter was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Devin Kelly was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of David Anderson's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Mason Jones was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
David Anderson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
David Anderson pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Beaver Local, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's still a better percentage than their 4-15 record this season.
Beaver Local took their win against David Anderson when the teams last played back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 13-0 score. Will the Beavers repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
