Recap: Goliad Tigers vs. Taft Greyhounds
The Taft Greyhounds typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Goliad Tigers proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Greyhounds with a 61-57 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Taft lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Villalobos. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 43.9% of Taft's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was David Davis, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Goliad's victory bumped their record up to 22-4. As for Taft, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Goliad will take on George West at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. George West and Goliad are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Taft, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Mathis at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Mathis is ranked 1134th, while Taft is ranked 1114th).
