Football Recap: South San Antonio Bobcats vs. Nixon Mustangs

If South San Antonio was riding high fresh off their 50-9 takedown of Cigarroa last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bobcats lost to the Nixon Mustangs on the road by a 28-13 margin on Thursday. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Anthony Mata threw for 101 yards and one TD. Julius Martinez was his top target, picking up 33 receiving yards.

Leading Nixon to victory were Emiliano Hernandez and Hunter Salinas. Hernandez rushed for 64 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Salinas threw for 134 yards and one TD. What's more, Salinas racked up 115.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

South San Antonio's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Nixon, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 3-2.
