Football Recap: Sullivan East Patriots vs. Johnson County Longhorns
Sullivan East couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Johnson County Longhorns 53-7 on Friday. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Longhorns apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.
Peyton Lingerfelt threw for 183 yards on 15 of 32 attempts, and also punched in a rushing score.

Juan Mejia was nothing short of spectacular for Johnson County: he rushed for 200 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per carry. Mejia was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 61 yards. Another player making a difference was Jace Stout, who rushed for 70 yards.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sullivan East is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they square off against Tennessee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Johnson County, they will challenge Hampton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
