Football Preview: Leto Falcons vs. Lennard Longhorns
The Leto Falcons will head out to square off against the Lennard Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Leto has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Lennard will arrive with four straight wins.
Leto's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Cardinal Mooney on Friday. They took a blow against the Cougars, falling 72-0. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 439th, while the Cougars are ranked 92nd).
While Lennard didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-7), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Gateway 41-6 at home. Considering the Longhorns have won three matches by more than 28 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lennard can attribute much of their success to Gavin Fields, who rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, and Jacob Mobley, who threw for 274 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt. Fields' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 135 rushing yards dating back to last season. Lennard also got help from London Green, who showed off his sure hands for 113 receiving yards.
