Softball Game Preview: Fletcher Senators vs. Ponte Vedra Sharks

The Fletcher Senators will face off against the Ponte Vedra Sharks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Fletcher will face Ponte Vedra after dropping another heartbreaker against Atlantic Coast on Monday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within 2.1 of beating them. Fletcher took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Atlantic Coast. The loss continues a trend for the Senators in their matchups with the Stingrays: they've now lost four in a row.

Ava Lowman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Ponte Vedra hadn't done well against Clay recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Ponte Vedra came out on top against Clay by a score of 5-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sharks.

Aoife Weaver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addison Siebenaler, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Alaina Daughtry, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Fletcher now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Ponte Vedra, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
