Basketball Recap: Rock Creek Academy Comes Up Short

Rock Creek Academy lost against Southwestern back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Rock Creek Academy Lions fell 63-54 to the Southwestern Rebels. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while the Rebels are ranked 76th).

Loss or not, Rock Creek Academy got some senior leadership from Keondre Davey and Kalann Brown. Davey went 8 for 11 on his way to 23 points, while Brown went 5 of 11 en route to 15 points and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davey has scored all season. Gavon Taylor was another key player, putting up seven points along with seven assists and three steals.

Southwestern got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Caleb Goode out in front who went 8 for 14 to rack up 21 points. Goode is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jeter Chatham, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards.

Rock Creek Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. As for Southwestern, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.

Rock Creek Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 75-60 victory against Lanesville on the 31st. As for Southwestern, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 88-44 win against Milan on the 31st.
