Softball Preview: Hayesville Yellowjackets vs. Copper Basin Cougars
The Hayesville Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to take on the Copper Basin Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Hayesville has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Copper Basin will arrive with three straight victories.
Hayesville fell victim to Swain County and their airtight pitching crew last Tuesday. They lost 13-0 to the Maroon Devils.
Hayesville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Peck, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Lillie McClure also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Copper Basin had just enough and edged out Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts 5-4 on Thursday.
