            Basketball Recap: Beechcroft Cougars vs. Columbus International Lions        
        
		
        
        
            Beechcroft was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight  loss. They received a  blow  as they fell  64-45 to the Columbus International Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  79-57  back in January.
 Despite the loss, Beechcroft still got an impressive performance from   Sha?Mya Dukes, who  posted 23 points and three  steals. That was a full 51.1% of Beechcroft's points, marking the third time in a row she's   put up  more than a third of the team's points.  Raji Lattimore also deserves some recognition as  she  posted her first  block of the season.
 Columbus International's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Leila Carter led the charge by  dropping  a double-double on 20  points and 19  boards. The  game was  Carter's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was  Marley Benson, who  scored 14 points in addition to seven  assists and seven  steals.
Beechcroft's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Columbus International, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won 12 of their last 14 matchups,  which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record  this season.
 Beechcroft wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next  contest,  a  68-33  loss against Centerburg on the 3rd. Columbus International has also  already played their next game,  a  70-33  win against South on the 3rd.
