Gray's Creek's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quion Andrews, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Elijah Jones was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Purnell Swett's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jodi Freeman, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Freeman grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Sampson, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Purnell Swett smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Gray's Creek's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-6. As for Purnell Swett, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gray's Creek will take on Seventy-First at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Seventy-First is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Purnell Swett, they will be playing at home against Cape Fear at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cape Fear focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday.
